The role supports patient care through chairside assistance, infection prevention and control practices, clinical preparation, sterilisation processes, equipment management, and effective patient communication.The Dental Assistant contributes to a positive patient experience by promoting a welcoming, respectful, and inclusive environment that aligns with Kambu Health's commitment to culturally secure care for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
The role works collaboratively with dental and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to support accessible, coordinated, and high-quality dental services while maintaining professional standards, confidentiality, and workplace safety requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Dental SupportProvide chairside assistance to dentists during examinations, treatments, procedures, and emergency carePrepare dental surgeries, instruments, materials,
and equipment to ensure efficient and safe clinical operationsSupport patient care by providing clear communication, reassurance, and culturally respectful assistance throughout the dental experienceAssist with dental procedures while maintaining patient comfort, dignity, and confidentialityInfection Prevention and ControlPerform sterilisation, disinfection, and infection control procedures in accordance with Australian standards, organisational policies, and clinical requirementsMaintain clean, safe, and well-prepared clinical environments, including dental chairs, instruments, and equipmentMonitor and maintain infection control supplies and report any issues relating to equipment or clinical safetyPatient Care and CommunicationWelcome patients and provide support throughout appointments, including preparation, education, and post-treatment instructions as directed by cliniciansPromote a positive, respectful, and culturally safe environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families, and community membersMaintain patient privacy, confidentiality, and professional boundaries at all timesTeamwork and Professional PracticeWork collaboratively with dentists, reception staff,
