This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone with graphic design and Adobe experience who is interested in working within the commercial printing industry, covering everything from artwork preparation to production, finishing, and customer service.LOCATION & EMPLOYMENT DETAILSEmployment Type: Part / Full TimeWork Schedule: To be discussedABOUT THE ROLEThis role suits someone who is more than just a graphic designer, comfortable working across design, customer service, administration, and physical print production.
You'll need a strong eye for detail and an understanding that preparing artwork for print is different from simply creating something that looks good on screen.
Previous experience operating industrial printing machines is not essential, as full training will be provided; candidates with strong graphic design and Adobe skills but limited machine experience are encouraged to apply.BENEFITSFull training on commercial printing and finishing equipmentVaried role combining graphic design, customer service, administration, and print productionOpportunity to develop practical skills within the commercial printing industryHands-on working environmentOpportunity to develop into a key member of the print production teamDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIESCreate, edit, and amend artwork for a range of printed productsPrepare customer-supplied artwork for skilled printingCheck artwork for correct sizing, resolution, bleed, crop marks, and colour requirementsConvert and export files into appropriate print-ready formats (PDF, AI, PSD, EPS, etc.)Make minor design changes and artwork corrections as requiredLiaise with customers regarding artwork, logos, images,



and job requirementsPrepare artwork and jobs for the printing processLearn to operate commercial and industrial printing equipment (training provided)Assist with print production and finishing processes including cutting, trimming, binding, laminating, folding, mounting, and collatingMonitor print quality and identify production issuesAssist with job setup and material preparation for productionEnsure completed jobs meet customer specifications and quality standardsMaintain a clean, organised, and safe work environmentDeal with customers in person, over the phone, and via emailRecommend suitable printing solutions and assist with artwork/file requirementsProvide information on products, pricing, and turnaround timesCommunicate job progress and resolve issues where requiredEnter and maintain customer and job information accuratelyProcess job orders and production paperworkAssist with quoting, invoicing, and general office administrationMaintain organised records of customer artwork and completed jobsCoordinate jobs between customers, design, and productionManage multiple jobs and priorities while meeting deadlinesSKILLS & QUALIFICATIONSPrevious experience in graphic design, print design, or a similar roleStrong working knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator, and AcrobatAdobe InDesign experience highly regardedUnderstanding of preparing files for professional printing (resolution, sizing, bleed, crop marks, colour)Ability to convert, export, and prepare files into suitable print formatsStrong attention to detailGood computer and general administration skillsExcellent communication and customer service skillsAbility to manage multiple jobs and meet deadlinesReliable, organised, and willing to learnDesirable: previous commercial print shop experience, industrial/commercial printing equipment experience, finishing equipment experience (cutting, binding, laminating), knowledge of different printing methods and substrates, experience with signage/wide-format/labels/brochures/business cards, direct customer-facing experience, and artwork/print troubleshooting experience
