Current Graduate Speech Pathologist | Your First Year Should Make You a Better Clinician, Not Just a Busier OneYou didn't spend years studying to spend your first year guessing.Mustard Seed Health Care is a Speech Pathology clinic in Yagoona, Western Sydney.
We work with children and adults across NDIS, Medicare and private services.
We're a small team, and we intend to stay that way, which means you'll be known here rather than managed from a distance. We have one to two graduate positions available, starting early ****.Youre Not Locked Into One CaseloadWe have both paediatric and adult caseloads available.
Most graduate roles decide that for you on day one.
We'd rather you work out what you actually enjoy. If paediatrics is where your heart is, there's plenty of it here.
If adult work makes you nervous, you're in good company.
That's almost always about placement exposure, not ability.
You'd build into it gradually alongside an experienced clinician, for as long as you need.
Nobody here is handed a caseload they haven't been prepared for.Early language, speech sound disorders, literacy, fluency, social communication, feeding and swallowing, adults rebuilding communication after a stroke.
You'll see enough to notice what you keep gravitating towards, which is how you find your niche.Your First YearWeekly one-on-one supervision from your first week.
Scheduled, not squeezed in when someone has a gap.Observe experienced clinicians before you run sessions on your ownA reduced caseload to start, with real preparation time between clientsAssessment protocols,

session plans and report templates ready to useJoint sessions on anything complex, for as long as you want themFeedback on every report until they stop taking you all afternoonProtected non-client time each weekYour caseload grows as your confidence does, not on a fixed scheduleSupport to move from Provisional to Full CPSP, including the supervised hours you'll needBy the end of the year you'll be running your own caseload confidently, writing reports that families and GPs actually use, and clear on which areas you want to go deeper into. The WorkA good portion of what we do is disability work, and we're proud of it.A child understood by their teacher for the first time.
An adult ordering their own coffee after a stroke.
A family who has been passed around the system finally feeling heard.Western Sydney needs good speech pathologists.
Here you'll get to be one.Who We're Looking ForYoure comfortable saying "I don't know"You take feedback without taking it personallyYou want to be excellent, and you'll do the unglamorous work to get thereYoure good with people, and a team is better for having you in itYou care about doing what the evidence supports,

and being able to explain whyYou want to build something over years, not fill a gap for twelve monthsExperience isn't on that list.
We'll teach you the clinical skills. How Pay Works HereWe use a published five-level salary scale.
Every clinician sits somewhere on it, and everyone moves up on the same written criteria, so you always know what you're earning and exactly what it takes to earn more.Superannuation is paid on top of your salary rather than absorbed into a package, and the scale is reviewed each year and adjusted in line with award and CPI movements.
We'll walk you through the whole scale and show you exactly where you'd sit when we meet. What Else You'll GetMonthly performance-based rewards on top of your salaryWeekly one-on-one supervision through your whole first yearProfessional development fundingRealistic caseload expectations.
We're not interested in burning out good cliniciansLaptop and the clinical resources to do the job properlyFlexibility for report writing and non-face-to-face workRegular team connection and social eventsYou'll NeedSpeech Pathology degree, completed or finishing in ****Eligible for Speech Pathology Australia membershipDriver's licence and your own carNDIS Worker Screening Check, Working With Children Check and National Police Check.
We'll walk you through these if you don't have them yetBefore You ApplyEvery clinic says it has a great culture.
