You are an experienced workplace health and safety professional who is passionate about helping people go home safe every day. You bring strong knowledge of WHS legislation, contemporary safety practices and risk management, together with the confidence to provide practical, expert advice.

A natural relationship builder, you communicate clearly and work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve positive safety outcomes. You are skilled in conducting complex incident investigations and audits, preparing detailed reports and recommendations, and translating findings into meaningful improvements. Above all, you bring sound judgement, initiative, professionalism and a customer-focused approach, and you are motivated to strengthen safety culture across Council's diverse operations.

The Team

The WHS team prides themselves on being able to support the organisation in providing expert advice in Workplace Health and Safety. They are an energetic, diverse team that support each other to deliver their objectives with an ongoing commitment to safety.

About the position

- This is a permanent full-time position based at the Principal Depot Charlton.
- The annual salary range for this position is $98,715.48 - $102,867.25 gross per annum, plus 17.5% annual leave loading and up to 12.65% superannuation.

How to be successful in this position

Mandatory qualifications

- Certificate IV in Workplace Health and Safety.
- WHS Competency (White Card) for CPCWHS1001 Prepare to work safely in the construction industry, or equivalent.
- Current unrestricted 'C' Class Driver's Licence.

Desirable qualifications

- Workplace Health and Safety Officer (Qld) Certificate of Authority.
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
- Work Health and Safety Management System Lead Auditor Certification.
- Appropriately qualified to perform the functions of a Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator under the Workers Compensation and Rehabilitation Act 2003.
