About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Controller to join a high-performing project controls team supporting major capital projects within the energy and resources sector.

This is a key role responsible for providing robust cost management, forecasting and financial oversight throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with project managers, planners, procurement teams, contractors and other stakeholders to ensure projects remain financially controlled and provide accurate, actionable information to support decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead cost control activities across major capital projects from baseline development through execution and closeout.
- Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, commitments, cash flow and cost reports.
- Manage VOWD, accruals, commitments, actuals and variance analysis to provide accurate financial visibility.
- Monitor project performance against approved budgets, identifying trends, risks and opportunities.
- Integrate cost information with project scope, schedule and procurement data.
- Review and validate contractor claims, invoices, progress reports and supporting documentation.
- Support earned value management, forecasting and project performance reporting.
- Manage and assess cost impacts associated with Management of Change processes.
- Prepare clear and concise cost reports and provide recommendations to project leadership.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, process improvement and improved project controls.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, suppliers and external consultants to resolve cost-related issues.

About You

- 8+ years' experience in project controls, cost control or a related discipline within resources, energy,



infrastructure or engineering.
- Proven experience managing costs across mid-to-large-scale capital projects.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, commitments, VOWD, accruals, cash flow and variance analysis.
- Experience integrating cost, schedule, scope and procurement information.
- Demonstrated experience reviewing contractor claims, invoices and progress claims.
- Sound understanding of project controls principles, earned value management and change management.
- Advanced Excel skills and experience using project cost management systems and ERP platforms.
- Experience with Power BI or similar reporting and data visualisation tools is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into meaningful insights.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Desirable
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Finance, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Project controls, cost engineering or project management certification.
- Experience working directly with contractors, suppliers and external consultants.
- Experience implementing automation, reporting improvements or process efficiencies within project controls.
