Temporary Senior Financial Account Opportunity

Hays is partnering with a well-established Tasmanian organisation seeking an experienced Accountant or Senior Accountant to join their finance team on a 3-month temporary contract. This organisation plays an key role within the local community and is recognised for its collaborative culture and commitment to delivering quality services. The successful candidate will join the team during a busy period and provide critical support across financial accounting, reporting and compliance activities. The role is based in Hobart and offers full-time hours, Monday to Friday.

Your new role

Reporting to the Head of Finance, you will be responsible for supporting the integrity of the organisation's financial records, reporting processes and financial controls. The role will have a strong focus on month-end reporting, reconciliations, audit preparation and stakeholder engagement.

Key responsibilities include:

- Maintaining the general ledger and ensuring the accuracy of financial records.
- Preparing month-end journals, accruals, prepayments and reconciliations.
- Producing accurate financial reports and supporting commentary.
- Assisting with audit preparation, compliance obligations and statutory reporting requirements.
- Supporting budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis processes.
- Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes,



reporting and internal controls.
- Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation to provide accurate financial information and advice.

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

- Previous experience in a Financial Accountant, Senior Accountant or similar role.
- Strong financial accounting expertise, including month-end and year-end processes.
- Experience preparing journals, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reports.
- A sound understanding of accounting standards, internal controls, compliance and audit requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working across finance systems.
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline. CPA or CA qualification, or progress towards completion, will be highly regarded.
