About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Surveyor to lead specialist survey projects, provide expert technical advice and partner with government agencies across NSW to deliver successful infrastructure outcomes. In this role, you will manage project delivery, support client relationships and apply your technical expertise to solve complex surveying challenges.

This recognised technical leadership role within NSW Public Works has a strong focus on dam deformation monitoring, while also leading the delivery of a broad range of infrastructure surveys. You will manage client relationships and financial performance on each project, contribute to business development, mentor survey staff and help strengthen our surveying capability through modern technologies and digital workflows.

Our Survey Team partners with government agencies across NSW to provide trusted surveying advice and specialist services, supporting infrastructure projects through dam deformation monitoring, precise surveying, laser scanning, planning and development support, digital capture and modern survey technologies.

What you will do

- - Lead complex survey projects, including dam deformation monitoring and other precise monitoring projects.
- Provide specialist technical advice and practical surveying solutions.
- Manage project budgets, risks, resources and client relationships.
- Support business development and sustainable service growth.




- Mentor survey staff and provide technical oversight.
- Apply contemporary survey technologies and digital workflows.

About you

You are an experienced surveying professional with sound technical judgement and a practical approach to solving complex problems. You can lead multiple priorities, communicate specialist advice clearly and build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues and project partners.

- Tertiary qualifications in Surveying and extensive, demonstrated experience leading and delivering complex survey projects.
- Sound knowledge of survey legislation and its practical application.
- Experience in deformation monitoring, precise surveying, survey control networks and least squares adjustment/analysis.
- Strong skills in survey data processing, analysis and reporting.
- Experience managing projects, clients, budgets and resources.
- Experience using modern survey technologies, including GNSS, precise total stations and levels, RPA/drone surveying, laser scanning and reality capture.
- A valid NSW Driver Licence and willingness to travel throughout NSW, including overnight stays.
- Ability to work safely in varied environments, including physically challenging terrain, remote locations, construction sites and water-based environments.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any employment screening checks, security clearances and health assessments required for the role.
