Join our team at Next Practice Braddon!

At Next Practice Braddon we take pride in fostering a warm and welcoming setting for patients and staff alike. We’re looking for someone who shares our values and our enthusiasm about patient care to join our reception team as a Patient Advocate.

About Next Practice Braddon

Next Practice Braddon opened in May 2023 and is owned and operated by two local Canberra GPs. We are a boutique clinic conveniently located in the heart of Canberra city. We offer a flexible roster and provide on-the-job training for staff eager to learn and grow with the team.

What we’re looking for

While previous medical reception experience is handy we don’t consider it to be essential for the Patient Advocate role, more importantly we’re looking for someone who:

- Presents a warm and confident demeanor and is enthusiastic about creating a safe and welcoming environment

- Enjoys being busy, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and can remain professional and composed under pressure

- Approaches people with genuine empathy and compassion, and plenty of patience!

- Understands and respects the importance of patient privacy and confidentiality

- Values being part of a team and embraces opportunities to learn from others

- Is able to keep track of multiple tasks at once and prioritise them efficiently

- Knows their strengths and weaknesses and is willing to step up to lend a hand when they can and to ask questions when they need to

- Is meticulous, punctual, proactive, and who takes pride in a job well done

- Enjoys problem solving and the challenges of navigating an ever-changing environment

- Communicates clearly and openly and who listens attentively with the aim to understand, not simply to respond

- Appreciates that a little kindness goes a long way, especially in this line of work!

Key responsibilities

- Answering phone calls and emails in a timely, professional, and courteous manner

- Managing bookings across multiple platforms

- Assisting patients with queries and supporting clinicians with day-to-day administrative tasks

- Maintaining a tidy and well organised work space

- Adhering to practice policies and procedures

- Effective time management

- Precise data entry

- Liaising with external providers such as pathology and imaging companies, GP clinics, specialist rooms, insurance and worker’s compensation agencies, etc

- Processing payments, reconciling accounts, and collecting outstanding invoices

Details of the position

- Casual or part time

- 20-35 hours per week

- Above award rates

- Flexible roster

- On-the-job training

If this sounds like a good fit for you, we’d love to hear from you!
