An opportunity has become available for an experienced Design Manager to join the Pre-Construction team of a growing mid-tier builder, working across major Class 2 residential developments from ECI through to construction commencement.

This role will suit someone who enjoys the front-end of projects – working through design development, buildability, planning, value management and consultant coordination to establish a strong platform for delivery.

The Opportunity

Working as part of an established Pre-Construction team, you will take a lead role across the ECI and pre-construction phases of major residential projects, partnering closely with clients, consultants, estimating and construction teams.

Rather than being tied to one project through delivery, you will have exposure to a pipeline of significant developments at various stages of design and procurement.

Your role will include:

- Lead design management through ECI, tender and pre-construction phases.
- Manage and coordinate architects, engineers and specialist consultants.
- Review design documentation for buildability, compliance, risk and completeness.
- Work closely with estimating and commercial teams on value management and cost planning.
- Identify design efficiencies and alternative construction solutions.
- Develop design programmes aligned with planning, procurement and construction requirements.
- Manage design risk and Safety in Design requirements.
- Facilitate design workshops with clients, consultants and key stakeholders.
- Assist with the transition and handover of projects from pre-construction into delivery.

What We're Looking For

- Design Management experience with a head contractor across Class 2 residential projects.
- Solid ECI, pre-construction or front-end design experience.
- An understanding of planning, buildability, procurement and construction methodology.
- The ability to challenge design and identify value-management opportunities.
- Strong consultant, client and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercial awareness and the ability to work collaboratively with estimating and construction teams.
