John Fawkner Private Hospital is looking to recruit a part-time Registered Nurse for their Scrub/Scout team. As a Scrub/Scout Nurse, you will work across a variety of surgical specialties, supporting patients before, during and immediately following surgical procedures. You will rotate between scrub and scout responsibilities, helping maintain a safe and efficient operating environment.

As a Registered Nurse your responsibilities will include

- Preparing operating theatres, instruments, equipment and consumables for surgery.
- Maintaining and monitoring sterile fields throughout procedures.
- Passing instruments and supplies to surgeons while anticipating procedural requirements.
- Performing instrument, swab and equipment counts to support patient safety.
- Supporting surgical safety checks and "Time Out" processes.
- Collaborating with surgeons, anaesthetists and theatre teams to deliver exceptional patient outcomes.
- Maintaining accurate clinical documentation and adhering to infection prevention standards.
- Supervising, directing and guiding nursing team members such a Enrolled Nurses (ENs)

Essential Criteria

- Australian work rights
- Current Registration with AHPRA
- Knowledge and use of contemporary perioperative practice
- Post Graduate Certificate in Perioperative Nursing (or working towards)
- Experience across orthopaedics and neurosurgery -
- Working with Children check (if relevant)
- Commitment to Quality Patient Care
- Compliance with ACQSHC National standards
- Sound clinical decision making and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- The ability to work well independently and within a team
- Rotating ON CALL roster

Desirable Criteria

- Cranial and spine experience




- Major and minor orthopaedics experience
