Our client is looking for an experienced Mechanical Tradesperson to join their operations and maintenance team in Alice Springs. This is an outstanding opportunity to work on critical power generation infrastructure, maintaining complex gas and diesel-fired generation equipment that supports essential services across the Northern Territory.
About the Role
Reporting to the Southern Region Maintenance Manager, you will provide specialist mechanical maintenance support across power generation facilities, carrying out preventative and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting equipment faults, and contributing to plant reliability and performance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining large gas and diesel reciprocating engines and associated generation equipment
- Conducting fault finding, diagnostics and repairs on critical power generation assets
- Managing and investigating equipment failures and emergency breakdowns
- Completing technical reports, condition assessments and maintenance documentation
- Working within Permit to Work and Safe Systems of Work procedures
- Participating in an on-call roster and travelling to regional sites as required
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and maintenance planning activities
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records through computerised maintenance management systems
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Mechanical Fitter or Diesel Mechanic trade qualification
- B Class Gas Licence or the ability to obtain one
- Current driver's licence (or ability to obtain an NT licence)trad
- Extensive experience maintaining large industrial gas and diesel engines
- Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting capabilities
- Experience working within permit-to-work systems and isolation procedures
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and procedures
- Strong computer skills and experience using maintenance management systems
- Commitment to workplace safety and protected work practices
Desirable Experience
- Experience with MAN Diesel and GE Jenbacher engines
- Minimum 3 years' experience maintaining large reciprocating engines
- High Risk Work Licences including Forklift, EWP, Working at Heights and/or Confined Space Entry
- Current First Aid certification
- Contractor supervision or management experience
