Thorndale Foundation is a not-for-profit charitable organisation that provides support and services to people with disability in the Nepean region. Established in 1958 by a passionate group of parents of children with intellectual disabilities, Thorndale continues its legacy of advocacy, support, and engagement for those participating in its services. Our vision is to ensure that all people with disability live in a community where equality is a way of life.

The role

Our Disability Support Workers are key to what we do – empowering people with a disability to live, work and learn in a positive workplace that enriches their lives. We are looking for enthusiastic people who have a genuine desire to work with people with a disability in their daily life. They need to be patient, compassionate, and have a smile ready to share. This is a challenging but rewarding opportunity for you to make a positive change in our participants' lives and also become a part of our successful team.

Role responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- contributing to the overall care, health, and well-being of participants

- supporting the social engagement and inclusion within their community

- personal care – showering, dressing, grooming, toileting

- household tasks – household cleaning,



laundry, assisting with the preparation of meals

- skill development – shopping, cooking, catching public transport, money handling

- transport to appointments and/or shopping

- providing support and assistance to help achieve individual personal goals

About you

To be successful in this role you require the following:

- minimum Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability or the equivalent) or working towards

- experience working with people who have a disability and challenging behaviors

- flexibility to undertake the various shifts Monday – Sunday including, morning, afternoon, and awake shifts

- strong written and verbal communication skills, including knowledge of person-centered approaches to care

- current NSW Drivers Licence

- current First Aid Certificate

- current NDIS Workers Screening Check (or be willing to apply for one)

Remuneration

Wages and conditions are in accordance with the Social Community Homecare and Disability Award 2010.
