Your role at St John of God Midland Public Hospital

As a suitably qualified Enrolled & Registered Nurse, you will join our Level 3 Transit Lounge, providing a comfortable and supportive environment where patients can receive appropriate clinical care while awaiting collection by family or friends following discharge. You will provide supervision and assistance as patients finalise discharge requirements, await medications, or arrange transport home. As a valued member of our friendly and approachable team, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centred care in a safe, effective, and compassionate manner.

These positions are on a fixed term contract appointment due to this unit being in the trial phase.

Negotiation of hours welcome if wanting to continue in current position and share hours with the Transit Lounge.

Operating Hours:

Monday to Sunday, 7am to 9.30pm.

Shift Times include:

7am to 2.30pm and 2pm to 9.30pm.

Key Responsibilities

- Continue to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient care, seeking support from senior staff as required to patients in Transit Lounge

- Promote and contribute to effective communication, facilitating teamwork and cooperation within the department and within the hospital.

- Provide patient education and act as a resource where appropriate.

- Support and supervise staff and students as required, including orientating and precepting staff.





- Contribute to the achievement of Hospital and Clinical Services operational objectives.

- Provides direct total patient care to patients to achieve identified outcomes in accordance with established hospital policies and procedures and Care Paths.

The successful applicant will hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) as an Enrolled or Registered Nurse and demonstrate strong clinical skills relevant to a rehabilitation environment.

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, a proven ability to identify and resolve issues effectively, and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.

You will be dedicated to achieving positive patient outcomes and ensuring a high level of patient satisfaction, while demonstrating cultural awareness and the ability to work respectfully and effectively with people from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and ethnicities.

We can offer you

- Salary: $75,179 to $106,629 (pro rata for part-time), plus 12% superannuation

- Fixed-term contracts to those with availability to work shifts across Monday to Sunday
