About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Lecturer to join our Department of Physics and Astronomy, embedded in the Swinburne Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing, to
As the Senior Lecturer, you will be design, develop, coordinate and deliver lectures, tutorials, and workshops to assess students in the areas of physics and astronomy, both on campus and online. This includes contributing to the leadership, development and innovation of academic programs and working with the academic team in the development of program change and innovation. You will also mentor and counsel students on academic matters and may supervise Honours, Masters and PhD students.
In this role, you will make significant contribution to the School’s research output, income and impact, and will lead and contribute to world-class research in astrophysics, with a particular focus on gravitational-wave-related research - working closely with the ARC Centre of Excellence for Gravitational Wave Discovery (OzGrav) and within the Swinburne Centre for Astrophysics and Supercomputing. You will be expected to participate in and help strengthen activities that foster and build further on existing links with government, industry, communities, and relevant professions in Australia and internationally.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Demonstrated research excellence in a relevant area of physics or astrophysics, including a strong publication record and evidence of contribution to large-scale, collaborative research programs.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake teaching and associated administrative duties, at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
- Demonstrated capacity to contribute to academic leadership in teaching, research and/or professional activities.
- Demonstrated ability to attract research funding from sources external to the university or to contribute to funded research projects
- Demonstrated experience contributing to a major international gravitational-wave observatory or collaboration, including the LIGO-Virgo-KAGRA Collaboration and next-generation detector networks is preferred.
Qualifications
- An earned doctoral qualification in the relevant discipline or a related field.
