If you're done with split shifts and rosters that change on you, this is a different kind of kitchen.
Gate Gourmet, part of gategroup, is the world's largest independent provider of airline catering and food solutions — serving more than 250 airlines across 30+ countries and producing over 270 million meals a year. Our Brisbane culinary team is growing, and we're looking for qualified chefs to join a high-volume production kitchen where precision, consistency and food safety matter more than plating for a pass.
It's a 7-day operation, so some weekends are part of the rotation — but shifts are mornings and afternoons only.
The role
- Cook to approved specifications, recipes and production schedules — consistency at volume is the craft here
- Run your section and lead Catering Assistants and junior team members
- Control yield, waste and spoilage
- Hold the line on HACCP, sanitation and food safety standards
- Keep your area clean, secure and organised, and contribute to a safety-first culture
What you'll bring
- Trade qualification in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
- Bulk cooking, high-volume kitchen or food manufacturing experience (highly regarded — but we'll train the right hospitality chef)
- Ability to work 38 hours per week across a 7-day roster (morning/afternoon shifts and some weekends and public holidays)
- Strong communication skills and a genuine team-first attitude
- Full Australian working rights
What's in it for you
- Permanent full-time, 38 hours per week — not casual, not "as required"
- Morning and afternoon shifts only — no splits, no late-night service
- Rosters published in advance so you can plan around them
- Paid annual leave, personal leave and super on a stable base
- Free onsite parking
- Structured training and genuine progression
- Global business, stable industry, long-term work
