About the Position

ALS Environmental is seeking to employ a full-time Laboratory Technician in the chemistry department at our laboratory based in Kirwan, Townsville. The successful applicant will receive on-the-job training in a wide variety of technical processes, techniques and quality procedures associated with working within a modern analytical laboratory.

Responsibilities

- Preparation and analysis of environmental samples
- Ensuring that preparation and analytical procedures and associated tasks are conducted in accordance with ALS Quality Work Instructions
- Organising designated tasks to maximise daily efficiencies
- Completing all tasks within both the timeframe set by the Supervisor and the relevant analysis standard
- Highlighting anomalies in results and sample type/behaviour

About you

- Genuine interest in science with either University or TAFE qualifications
- High level of attention to detail, good communication and organisational skills
- Understanding of good laboratory practices
- A high level of computer literacy
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Great time management
- A demonstrated interest or personal hobby in areas such as computer building, circuitry, automation, excel macros, scripting or 3D printing
- Coding or programming capability
- Exposure to or interest in robotics, AI, process automation or digital optimisation
