About ACT Health Centre
Home to the Department of Defence Headquarters, Airforce Headquarters and Australian Defence Force Academy (ADFA) which is a tri-service military academy. The Health Centre opened mid-2022 and is a large facility. It services approximately 7000 military personnel, including trainee officers from both ADFA and Royal Military College. There is a 24-bed low dependency ward whichoperates24/7. Services provided include primary medical, aviation & underwater medical, nursing, dental, mental health,pharmaceuticaland physiotherapy. Defence Force Recruitment for medical officers is in addition to health centre roles. Standard hours of operation aregenerally 0800-1600Monday to Friday (depending on role requirements and specific craft groupsrequiredfor weekend and on-call shifts).
This role is primarily Monday to Friday (day shift)
within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. After-hours,weekendand on-call shifts may be required depending on role requirements and base location.
Whatyou’lldo
- Deliver high-quality primary care to Defence members
- OccupationalMedicineenvironment, conductingfitness-for-duty assessments and pre/post-deployment care,in addition toinjury management, chronic disease management andpreventative health
- Support the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) DFR in the screening and assessment of the health suitability of applicants to join the Australian Defence Force (ADF)
- Provide clear verbal and written advice and recommendations to Defence Force Recruiting Centre (DFRC) medical practitionersregardingapplicants’ health suitability
- Make decisionsregardingthe health suitability of applicants to join the ADF
- Undertake case reviews and prepare findings in the required written format, including responses to requests such as ministerial complaints and internal audits
- Work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary clinical environmentwhere patientwellness is paramount
What you bring
- Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a General Practitioner
- FRACGP, FACRRM or Vocational Registration
- Minimum two years’ GP experience in the last five yearsin a General Practice Setting
- Current CPR certification (HLTAID009)
- Australian Citizenshiprequired(Baseline Security Clearance)
- Commitment to CPD and ethical, patient-centred care
