Waterview Electrical Services is looking for a hands-on Smart Works Lead Technician to join our team.

n

This is a senior field-based role working across high-end residential smart home, automation, security, CCTV, networking, lighting control, and AV projects.

n

The role is approximately 70% on the tools, with the balance focused on quoting support, technical planning, job coordination, client communication, commissioning, and handover.

n

You will be responsible for delivering and supporting Smart Works jobs from site setup through to commissioning and handover. This includes security and CCTV installation/programming, lighting control, C-Bus, KNX, networking/IP systems, basic AV, automation support, fault-finding, and service work.

n

This is not a desk-based manager role. It suits someone who is solid on the tools, technically capable, organised, and comfortable taking ownership of jobs.

Key responsibilities

n

- Install, program, commission, and fault-find smart home and automation systems
n
- Install and program security and CCTV systems
n
- Work with lighting control systems, including C-Bus and KNX
n
- Support networking, IP devices, WiFi, AV, and smart home systems
n
- Review job scopes and provide technical input into quotes
n
- Prepare parts lists and assist with supplier pricing where required
n




- Coordinate with electricians, apprentices, subcontractors, builders, clients, and the office team
n
- Complete job notes, photos, commissioning records, and handover documentation
n
- Identify variations and communicate them before extra work proceeds
n
- Support the ongoing growth of the Smart Works division
n

Required experience

n

n
- Hands-on experience in smart home, automation, security, CCTV, networking, AV, or electrical work
n
- Strong practical fault-finding ability
n
- Experience working on residential sites, preferably high-end homes
n
- Ability to read plans, understand scope, and work with builders and clients
n
- Strong communication and job ownership skills
n
- Ability to work independently and manage smaller jobs end-to-end
n
- Willingness to stay on the tools while taking on technical leadership responsibility
n

Preferred experience

n

- Electrical licence preferred but not essential
n
- C-Bus experience
n
- KNX experience
n
- Security/CCTV programming experience
n
- Networking and IP knowledge
n
- Basic AV knowledge
n
- Experience preparing quotes or technical scopes
n
