Viden are seeking an experienced Security Operations Engineer to join our growing cyber security team. This is a hands‑on role suited to someone who enjoys solving complex security problems, improving defensive capabilities, and working across a diverse range of technologies and environments.

You will be responsible for supporting the operation, engineering and continuous improvement of security technologies and controls, including SIEM, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, network security, identity and access management, logging and monitoring platforms for a critical Government network.

Key responsibilities

- Investigating and responding to security events
- Developing detection and monitoring capabilities
- Performing vulnerability analysis
- Tuning security tools
- Automating operational security tasks
- Assisting clients and internal teams to strengthen their security posture

About you

- 10+ Years of SOC,



cyber security or network engineering experience
- Solid knowledge of Windows, Linux, networking and cloud environments
- Experience deploying and refining SIEM, EDR/XDR technologies
- Understanding of incident response, threat detection and SOC operations
- Scripting or automation skills such as PowerShell or Python
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills
- Experience with the ISM, Essential Eight, PSPF or DSPF
- Diploma or above in Cyber Security or Network Engineering
- Micro-credentials such as GCED, GMON, GCIA, CGIH are all highly regarded
