About the Role
ThisSenior Associate Criminal Lawyer Canberra prospect offers an exciting opportunity to step into a leadership position within a dynamic and supportive firm.
You will manage a diverse criminal law caseload while alsoleading and mentoring the Canberra Criminal Law team . You will work closely with theNational Practice Director and Practice Leader (Sydney) , both accredited specialists.

This role offers a clear pathway toPractice Leader level for the right candidate.
Key Responsibilities
As aSenior Associate Criminal Lawyer , you will:
- Provide expert legal advice and representation incriminal law matters , including complex cases
- Manage ahigh-volume criminal law caseload from start to finish
- Draft high-quality legal documents, includingcharges, defences, and court submissions
- Represent clients incourt hearings, trials, and mediations
- Build and maintain strong relationships withclients and stakeholders
- Support business development andgrowth of the criminal law practice
- Mentor and supervise junior lawyers anddevelop team capability
- Assist in developinglegal precedents and internal policies
- Participate instrategy and executive business meetings
- Manage team financial performance andachieve billing targets
About You
To succeed in thisSenior Associate Criminal Lawyer Canberra role , you will have:
- Minimum5+ years’ post-admission experience in Criminal Law
- Strong experience handlingcomplex criminal law matters
- Specialist Accreditation (highly regarded)
- Excellent knowledge ofcriminal law procedures and court advocacy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to managecompeting priorities and a busy caseload
- A proactive, client-focused approach
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior lawyers
- A genuine interest in transitioning into aleadership role
