Summary
HII - Australia is seeking a Regulatory / Safety / Assurance Integration Lead to join the team! This opportunity will be based out of Canberra, Australia . This position ensures sustainment activities are aligned with safety, certification, and regulatory requirements, integrating assurance considerations into planning and execution within a high-consequence environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate safety case, certification, and sustainment activities.
- Interface with Engineering Authority, NSSG, and regulators.
- Ensure planning aligns with configuration baselines and safety constraints.
- Support development of nuclear-relevant assurance frameworks.
- Identify and elevate safety and certification risks early.
What You Need To Have
- 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
- 10+ years in nuclear safety, certification, or regulatory environments.
- Direct exposure to US Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP)
or equivalent nuclear governance frameworks.
- Experience integrating:
- Safety cases.
- Certification processes.
- Sustainment planning.
- Strong understanding of:
- Configuration control.
- Nuclear regulatory compliance.
- High-consequence risk management.
- Ability to interface with engineering authorities and regulators.
Bonus Points For
- Experience with Virginia-class or other US SSN safety assurance frameworks.
- Prior engagement with:
- NAVSEA 02/05/07/08 (Naval Reactors).
- Nuclear certification authorities.
- Experience building assurance frameworks for recent or transitioning programs.
- Formal qualifications in nuclear engineering, safety engineering, or risk management.
