Ethos BeathChapman is partnering with a highly regarded investment and capital management organisation to appoint a Director, Operational Risk & Compliance.
n This is a newly created leadership role within the second line of defence, offering the opportunity to shape and enhance enterprise-wide risk and compliance capability within a growing and purpose-driven organisation.
n The role has a particular focus on ensuring that technology, cyber, data and information risks are appropriately governed within the broader operational risk management framework. Working closely with first-line business, operations and technology teams, you will help strengthen risk governance, operational resilience and control effectiveness across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

n

- Provide second-line oversight, advice and challenge across operational risk, compliance and resilience activities.
n
- Support the development and enhancement of enterprise risk management frameworks, policies and governance arrangements.
n
- Partner with business and technology stakeholders to improve risk identification, assessment and treatment processes.
n
- Provide oversight of business, cyber, data and information risk management practices from an enterprise risk perspective.
n
- Contribute to operational resilience, business continuity and incident management programs.
n
- Support the design and implementation of effective risk and compliance controls across key business processes.
n
- Deliver risk reporting and insights to executive and board-level stakeholders.
n
- Assist with assurance activities, audit remediation and continuous improvement initiatives.
n
- Promote a robust risk culture through coaching, stakeholder engagement and practical risk advice.

About You

n

We are interested in speaking with risk professionals who bring a balanced background across operational risk, compliance and governance, together with exposure to data, information and cyber risk management.
n You may currently be working in operational risk, enterprise risk, compliance, operational resilience, internal audit or risk advisory within financial services, funds management, banking, insurance or another highly regulated environment.

n

To be successful, you will likely demonstrate:

n

- Experience operating within a second-line risk or compliance function.
n
- Strong operational risk and control framework expertise.
n
- Knowledge of prudential, regulatory or governance frameworks relevant to regulated organisations.
n
- Exposure to technology, cyber, data or information risk management, ideally from a governance and oversight perspective rather than a purely technical role.
n
- Experience supporting operational resilience, business continuity or incident management programs.
n
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
n
- The ability to communicate complex risk matters clearly and pragmatically to both technical and non-technical audiences.
n
- Experience preparing executive-level and board reporting.
n
