Job Description
We are an established food manufacturing business looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Officer to join our Quality team.
n
This role is primarily responsible for coordinating product and raw material testing, managing samples submitted to external laboratories, reviewing laboratory results, and preparing Certificates of Analysis (CoAs) for customers.
n
The position requires excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple testing and certification requirements in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
n
Key responsibilities
n
Sample Coordination & Laboratory Testing: Coordinate the collection, preparation and submission of raw material and finished product samples to external laboratories in accordance with testing schedules, product specifications and customer requirements.
n
Laboratory Results: Review laboratory reports and verify results against applicable product specifications, regulatory requirements and customer limits.
n
Certificates of Analysis: Prepare and issue accurate CoAs in accordance with product results and customer-specific requirements.
n
Testing Follow-up: Monitor outstanding laboratory results and follow up with laboratories to ensure results are received within required timeframes.
n
Non-Conforming Results: Promptly escalation out-of-specification, unusual or potentially non-conforming results to the Technical/QA Manager for assessment.
n
Sample & Testing Records: Maintain testing registers, laboratory reports, CoAs and associated records to ensure complete traceability and easy retrieval.
n
Product Specifications: Verify that testing requirements and CoA information are aligned with current product and customer specifications.
n
Customer Requirements:
Assist with customer-specific testing, documentation and certification requirements.
n
Sample Management: Maintain appropriate identification, storage and retention of samples where required.
n
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with QA, Production, Warehouse, Dispatch and Customer Service teams to ensure testing and certification requirements are completed on time.
n
Continuous Improvement: Assist in identifying opportunities to improve sampling, testing, record-keeping and CoA processes.

About you
n
A Bachelor's degree in Food Science, or a related discipline.
n
Previous experience in Quality Assurance within food manufacturing would be highly regarded.
n
Understanding of microbiological, chemical and physical testing of food products.
n
Ability to interpret laboratory reports and compare results against product specifications.
n
High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when reviewing analytical results and preparing CoAs.
n
Strong organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple samples, results and deadlines simultaneously.
n
Robust written and verbal communication skills.
n
Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and electronic record-management systems.
n
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a QA team.
n
Experience dealing with external laboratories and customer documentation would be advantageous.
