Day/Afternoon Shift Labourer

n

Haymond Personnel is currently seeking reliable and hardworking General labourers to join a busy steel processing facility on Day and Afternoon shift. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and are looking for ongoing employment with opportunities for growth.

Monday- Friday
n Day Shift- 6am-2:30pm
n Afternoon Shift- 2:30pm-11pm

n

Rate

n

Day Shift- $33.85, Afternoon Shift- $38.93

n

Key Accountabilities

n

n
- Assist with the setup, loading, and unloading of components on the coating line.
n
- Hot metal spray gun use
n
- Powder coating
n
- Prepare surfaces for coating, including cleaning, degreasing, and masking as required.
n
- Operate or assist in operating coating equipment under supervision, following standard operating procedures (SOPs).
n
- Monitor coated product for visible defects and report quality issues to the Team Leader or Supervisor.
n
- Handle, stack, and move materials, stock, and finished product safely, including manual handling and use of trolleys/pallet jacks.
n
- Maintain a clean, organised, and protected work area in line with housekeeping and 5S standards.
n
- Correctly use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including respiratory protection where required for coatings work.
n
- Follow all Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), safety data sheets (SDS), and site WHS requirements when handling coatings, solvents, and chemicals.
n
- Support basic quality checks, batch labelling, and record-keeping as directed.
n
- Report hazards, near misses, incidents, and equipment faults promptly to supervisors.
n
- Participate in toolbox talks, inductions, and training sessions as required.
n
- Work flexibly across rostered shifts, including the possibility of early starts, late finishes, and weekend work based on production demand.

- Undertake other general labouring duties within the scope of the role as required.

Qualifications and Experience

n

n
- No formal qualifications required; prior experience in a manufacturing, production, or labouring environment is desirable but not essential.
n
- F/L desirable
n
- Over head crane experience - training provided
n
- Experience working with coatings, paints, or industrial chemicals is an advantage but not essential — training will be provided.
n
- Sound understanding of, or willingness to learn, safe manual handling techniques.
n
- Basic literacy and numeracy skills sufficient to follow written work instructions and complete simple records.
n
- Full working rights in Australia.

- Good attention to detail, particularly in relation to product quality and coating consistency.

- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a small production team.

- Willing to learn new tasks and follow direction from supervisors and team leaders.

- Punctual and dependable, with a strong work ethic.

Working Conditions

n

- Casual hours, rostered according to production requirements; hours and shifts may vary week to week.
n
- Work is performed in a manufacturing/production environment, involving exposure to noise, fumes, and industrial coating chemicals.
n
- Required to wear PPE at all times, including but not limited to safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, and respiratory protection as directed.
n
- Physical requirements include standing for extended periods, manual handling, and repetitive tasks.
