We have been exclusively retained to appoint a Chief Operating Officer for an established and growing Sydney-based technology consulting business.

With approximately 45 employees, the organisation has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality technology consulting services and has reached an important point in its evolution.

The appointment of a COO represents a significant investment in the next phase of the business.

n

Working closely with the CEO, the successful executive will help professionalise and scale the organisation, strengthening its operational and commercial foundations while preserving the entrepreneurial culture that has driven its success.

The Prospect

n

This is a broad executive leadership position with responsibility across operations, consulting delivery, commercial performance, people and organisational capability.

n

The COO will translate strategy into execution and provide the operational leadership required to support continued growth.

n

Key areas of responsibility will include:

- Overall operational performance of the organisation
n
- Execution of strategic growth initiatives alongside the CEO
n
- Revenue, margin and profitability performance
n
- Financial and operational forecasting
n
- Development of meaningful business KPIs and management reporting
n
- Building scalable processes, systems and governance
n
- Leadership and development of the broader management team
n
- Workforce planning, capability development and retention
n
- Client delivery standards and commercial performance
n
- Identification and management of operational risk
n

Importantly, this is not a role for someone looking to operate purely at board or strategy level.

The successful COO will be comfortable moving between executive-level decision making and hands-on operational leadership.

The Executive

n

We are particularly interested in speaking with executives who have built their careers within technology consulting, IT services, professional services or similar people-based organisations.

n

You are likely to have held a position such as:

n

COO | General Manager | Managing Director | Operations Director | Consulting Director | Executive Director

n

You will bring strong commercial judgement and understand the economics of consulting businesses, including utilisation, project margins, resource management, revenue forecasting and delivery performance.

n

Experience helping a boutique or mid-sized consulting organisation move from an entrepreneurial operating model toward a more scalable and structured business will be highly regarded.

n

Just as importantly, you will understand how to introduce greater operational discipline without creating unnecessary corporate bureaucracy.
