Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking a committed, capable, and community-minded Service Station Attendant to perform daily tasks at the service station and work closely with staff, community members, and stakeholders.

About the Role
As the Service Station Attendant, you will be responsible for performing the day-to-day tasks of the service station, including stocking shelves, sales of fuel and gas supplies, cleaning standards, cash handling, compliance, and customer service. You will bring solid, friendly, and courteous skills to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery for the Palm Island community.
This role is based on Palm Island, and preference will be given to Palm Island community members, in line with merit-based recruitment and Council’s commitment to local capability development.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure day-to-day service station operations are performed in a safe, efficient, and reliable manner.
- Maintain effective stock controls, cash handling,
and availability of fuel; gas and essential supplies are available for sales.
- Assist if required to conduct accurate stocktaking on a monthly basis with Management as required.
- Ensure the service station operates in line with safety, regulatory, WHS, and Council requirements.
- Maintain a clean, compliant, and well-presented service station environment that supports high-quality customer service.
- Work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays, to support operational needs.
- You will demonstrate an understanding of the cultural, social, and community context of Palm Island and support respectful engagement with staff, community members, and stakeholders. You will take a practical, hands-on management approach while contributing to local employment, capability development, and service excellence.
- Sound understanding of safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements relevant to service station operations.
- Work in a cooperative and friendly team environment.
- Perform accurate cash handling and POS skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritise effectively
- Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- A valid driver's licence, if required.
