At Park Hyatt Sydney, you will be part of a world-class team delivering exceptional luxury hospitality in one of Australia's most iconic locations. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team.

n

Reporting to the Hotel Accountant and Director of Finance, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the accuracy of hotel revenue, maintaining financial controls, supporting month-end processes, and assisting with cost management initiatives across the hotel.

n

Main Responsibilities

n

Income Audit & Revenue Control

n

n
- Review and audit daily revenue transactions across all hotel departments, including Rooms, Food & Beverage and other operating departments
n
- Reconcile revenue postings, cash collections, credit card settlements, city ledger accounts and bank deposits
n
- Investigate revenue discrepancies and unusual transactions
n
- Prepare and distribute daily revenue and management reports
n
- Ensure compliance with hotel policies, internal controls and audit requirements
n




- Assist with month-end closing activities and account reconciliations
n
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly financial reports for operational departments
n
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes
n
- Maintain accurate financial records and documentation
n
- Assist with internal and external audit requirements
n
- Recommend improvements to accounting processes and internal controls
n

Cost Control & Inventory Management

n

n
- Monitor food, beverage and operating supply costs
n
- Analyse cost variances and identify opportunities to improve profitability
n
- Participate in inventory counts and stock reconciliations
n
- Review purchasing transactions and supplier documentation
n
- Prepare monthly cost analysis and inventory valuation reports
n
- Work closely with Purchasing, Receiving, Stores, Kitchen and Food & Beverage teams to ensure effective cost control
n

Qualifications

n

n
- Relevant qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline
n
- Previous experience in an Assistant Accountant, Income Auditor, Cost Controller or similar accounting role
n
- Hospitality industry experience is highly desirable
n
- Sound understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations and financial reporting
n
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
n




- Advanced attention to detail and accuracy
n
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
n
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
n
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial systems
n
- Highly motivated, proactive and able to work both independently and collaboratively
n
