Temporary Financial Accountant Hobart

Your new company
An established and highly respected Tasmanian organisation is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its team on a temporary basis to provide leave cover for a critical finance function.

Your new role
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this hands-on role will suit an accountant who is confident working autonomously, enjoys taking ownership of financial reporting responsibilities, and can quickly integrate into a small and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities: - Strong accounting experience with a sound understanding of month-end processes
- Prepare month-end journals and accounting entries
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and management reports
- Complete balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances
- Review and analyse profit and loss reports
- Support cash flow reporting and forecasting activities
- Finalise and update board reporting packs
- Assist with payroll data entry and payroll-related reporting
- Perform inventory clearing and account reconciliation activities
- Ensure financial records are accurate, complete and up to date
- Provide financial insights and support to senior leadership

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:




- Strong accounting experience with a sound understanding of month-end processes
- Proven capability preparing journals, reconciliations and financial reports
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial information
- Experience working independently and managing competing priorities
- Exposure to payroll processes and maintaining data accuracy
- Experience preparing board or executive reporting
- Proficiency using MYOB or similar accounting systems
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Additional Requirements
- Current Working with Vulnerable People Registration or willingness to obtain
- Current National Police Check, or willingness to obtain
- Ability to commence in early September and commit through to early November
