About the role

As a Food Services Assistant, you will be an important member of our Food Services and Catering team, assisting with the day-to-day operation of our kitchen.

You will help prepare and present meals for patients and residents, ensuring food is prepared safely, hygienically and to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Assisting with general kitchen and food preparation duties
- Preparing vegetables and other food for cooking
- Portioning and presenting meals




- Preparing meals to meet specified special dietary requirements
- Operating temperature-controlled cooking equipment
- Ensuring food preparation areas and equipment are clean and hygienic
- Storing food appropriately in temperature-controlled facilities
- Receiving and storing food and other supplies
- Completing documentation associated with food safety requirements
- Supporting catering for special functions and resident activities

About you

We are looking for someone who is reliable, motivated and takes pride in their work.

You will have a genuine interest in food preparation and presentation, strong attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of food safety in a healthcare environment.

You will also:

- Have current food safety qualifications relevant to health services
- Demonstrate a high standard of personal cleanliness
- Have effective communication skills
- Be reliable and punctual
- Be adaptable and able to work a range of shifts
- Enjoy working as part of a team
- Demonstrate a commitment to Mansfield District Hospital's values
- Hold a current full driver's licence
- Hold a current Working with Children Check
- Meet required COVID-19 and influenza vaccination requirements





Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen is desirable, but we are also interested in hearing from people who have a strong interest in food and the right attitude to learn.
