Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Carer Peer Support Worker to join the Broadmeadows Adult Inpatient Unit.

Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.

Services are provided through our six main campuses:

Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn and Mernda Community Hospitals Centres and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park, Mernda and Coburg.

About the Role:

This role is an innovative carer focused role in a mental health setting offering various modes of support to families/carers of consumers.Â

This position requires a clear and readily articulated understanding of the role and challenges faced by families and carers within the mental health system, which seeks to be inclusive and respectful of carer’s views, acknowledges their needs as individuals and honour their lived experience.Â

This role is responsible for mutually supporting families and carers in their own recovery, supporting the recovery of their loved ones and to build resilience.





Supporting families and carers to connect and access a range of beneficial community supports.

Work in conjunction with clinicians in the multidisciplinary team to provide holistic support to consumers utilising the Intentional Peer Support (IPS) Model.

To be successful in this role you will have:

- Must have your own Lived/ Living Experience’ of caring for someone with mental ill-health and/ or involvement with mental health services.
- Peer support training desirable
