Position Summary

A Drainer is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of piping systems and related infrastructure. This role involves ensuring that water efficiently flows without disruption to residential, commercial, and industrial properties.Working as part of an operational or project team, the Drainer is responsible for installing pipelines, working around live water main assets, undertaking complex excavation activities, and completing pipeline repairs and maintenance. The position requires physical fitness, reliability, and a strong commitment to maintaining safety standards in compliance with company policies and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

General

Installation: Install various sizes and types of pipework, new culverts, and

stormwater systems per technical specifications.Maintenance: inspect, test and maintain pipelines culverts, and stormwater systems.Repair: Diagnose and repair leaks or damage in piping systems.Underground Services: Locate existing underground services.Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain machinery and tools, including setting up pipe lasers and carrying out levels.Plant Operations: Direct and support plant operators.Site Preparation: Transparent debris and excavate trenches for pipe installations.Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with local, state, and federalregulations and environmental guidelines.Follow instructions from supervisors and comply with all site safety protocols and requirements.Maintain compliance with organisational policies,



procedures, and the Code ofConduct, and consistently demonstrate behaviours that support the organisation’s values and culture.

Work Health and Safety

Complying with all applicable health, safety and environmental legislation and company requirements.Ensuring safety considerations are incorporated into all tasks undertaken, demonstrate understanding of technical and safety protocols to protect yourself and others on-site.Participate in toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions to maintain compliance and awarenessReporting hazards, incidents and near misses in accordance with company procedures.Support Saltire’s objective of achieving zero harm across all workplaces.

Qualifications

Essential

Strong understanding of Water Corporation specifications and standardsExperienced in QA inspections, pressure testing, and disinfection processesMinimum of 2 years’ experience in pipe layingHolds relevant accreditations and tickets, including:Construction White Card (mandatory)PVC Pipe LayingConfined Space EntryAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual tasks safely and effectively.Understanding of workplace health and safety practices. Current Driver’sLicence.

Desirable

Current pipe laying/related accreditation or demonstrated experience as adrainerDesirable accreditations and tickets, includingPlant operating ticketsWorking at HeightsExcavator VOCs
