Role Description
The Immigration Lawyer will provide legal advice and representation on Australian immigration matters, with a focus on employer-sponsored visa programs out of RSG's Riverina based office. Day-to-day responsibilities include assessing client eligibility, preparing and reviewing visa applications, drafting legal submissions, and managing documentation to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and policy. The role involves liaising with clients, government authorities, and internal stakeholders, while maintaining accurate records and timelines for multiple cases.
This is a full-time, hybrid position based in Wagga Wagga, NSW, with the flexibility to perform part of the work from home. The Immigration Lawyer will also contribute to process improvements, support colleagues with complex cases, and stay current with changes in immigration law and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
Strong knowledge of Australian immigration law, particularly employer-sponsored and skilled visa programs, and the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, regulations, and policy.
Demonstrated experience in legal research, analysis, and drafting clear, well-structured legal documents, submissions, and client correspondence.
Excellent client-facing skills, including the ability to explain complex legal concepts in accessible language and manage expectations with professionalism and empathy.
Effective case management and organizational abilities, including attention to detail, deadline management, and accurate record-keeping across multiple mattersHigh level of written and verbal.
Communication skills, with sound judgment, ethical practice, and discretion in handling confidential information.
Capability to work both independently and collaboratively in a hybrid environment, using digital tools and case management systems efficiently.
Admission as a legal practitioner in Australia (or eligibility for admission) and completion of a relevant law degree; prior experience in immigration or administrative law is highly desirable.
Familiarity with business sponsorship requirements and an understanding of the needs of Australian employers, especially in growth-oriented sectors
