Rockingham and Peel | Three-month contract

Indigenous Managed Services is seeking an Aboriginal Health Liaison Officer to support Aboriginal patients, families and healthcare professionals across the Rockingham and Peel areas.

This role works within a multidisciplinary healthcare team to coordinate culturally appropriate care, advocate for patients and carers, and provide cultural guidance to health service staff.

This is an identified position. Applicants must be Aboriginal men in accordance with sections 27(2) and 50(d) of the Equal Chance Act 1984 (WA).

Key responsibilities

- Liaise with Aboriginal patients, families and healthcare professionals.
- Support culturally appropriate care planning, chronic disease management and health education.
- Assist patients and families to understand and engage with appointments, treatment and discharge plans.
- Advocate for Aboriginal patients and carers throughout their healthcare journey.
- Provide cultural advice and consultation to healthcare staff.
- Build collaborative relationships with Aboriginal communities, service providers and other stakeholders.
- Contribute to Aboriginal health programs,



policies and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintain accurate and confidential client records, workload data and program reports.
- Deliver cultural awareness support or training when required.

About you To be considered, you will require:
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander identity and identification as male, consistent with the genuine occupational requirements of the position.
- An Advanced Certificate in Aboriginal Health Work or equivalent relevant experience.
- Strong knowledge of Aboriginal family structures, cultures and customs and their relationship to health outcomes.
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted partnerships.
- The ability to plan and manage your workload effectively.
- The ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team.
- A current Australian C or C-A class driver’s licence.

Previous experience in a healthcare or community services environment and basic computer skills will be highly regarded.
