Electronic Instrument Trades Worker (Field Service Technician)

Job Description
APS Service Pty Ltd Service support is at the core of our business, and we are looking for a technically capable team member who can work independently and provide high-quality service to our customers. The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Installing, commissioning, maintaining and repairing medical equipment in the field as assigned.
- Carrying out annual servicing on a wide variety of electromedical devices.
- Diagnosing electrical, electronic and electromechanical faults using technical service manuals, diagnostic equipment and testing procedures.
- Carrying out component-level electronic diagnosis and repair where required.
- Conducting reassembly and post repair testing and calibration following servicing and repairs.
- Performing in depth troubleshooting and identifying the causes of equipment faults and malfunctions.
- Providing technical support and guidance to customers on the equipment and products supported by the business.
- Delivering application and user level training on products installed or serviced.
- Comprehending and applying Australian standards and technical requirements applicable to the role.
- Maintaining accurate service records and preparing clear and timely service reports.
- Maintaing a professional and customer-focused approach at all times.
- Travelling as required to customer sites, including occasional interstate or overseas travel.
Essential Skills and Qualifications
To be considered for this position, you will need:
- Restricted Electrical Licence, Level 1 at minimum
- A relevant technical certificate/diploma or higher qualification in Electronics, Instrumentation, Electrotechnology, biomedical equipment technology or a closely related field
- Current Unrestricted driver's licence
- Some experience in hands on technical servicing
- Demonstrated knowledge/ability in sterilizer validation in accordance with AS5369
- Demonstrated abilities for electromedical device testing in accordance with AS3551
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications & IT hardware
- Professional presentation with a methodical approach to troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Ability to work autonomously & with others.
- Satisfactory police & medical clearance
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair electronic and electromechanical faults, including component-level diagnosis and repair.
- Must be customer oriented and focused.
- Robust written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to read, understand and apply technical service manuals and documentation
- Visual acuity and manual dexterity necessary to safely handle tools and equipment to perform essential functions.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 25 kg.
- Be willing to comply with applicable vaccination & immunisation requirements.
(Applicants not meeting the essential criteria will not be considered.) Applicants with the following skills will be preferenced:
- Expertise with MELAG, W&H;, Cefla instrument sterilization equipment in installation, servicing & repair
- Familiarity with servicing and repair of Ultrasonic surgical equipment
- Experience in cardiac &/or respiratory therapy equipment service and repair
- Demonstrable proficiency in electromechanical device repairs
- Experience in component level electronics diagnosis and repair
- Background in the biomedical service industry.
