A government department dedicated to moving and connecting people, places, goods and services safely, efficiently and effectively is seeking a high-performing and innovative Project Engagement Advisor to join their team. Based in Cairns, this is a 2-year contract offering the opportunity to contribute to significant infrastructure projects across Far North Queensland, with the possibility of a further 12-month extension.

Your new role

n

In the role of Project Engagement Advisor, you will provide strategic communication services to technical and professional staff across community engagement, issues management and stakeholder relationship management.

You will also be responsible for:

n

n
- Coordinating community engagement activities for major projects, including providing project managers with ongoing strategic communications advice and developing and implementing communication strategies
n
- Developing stakeholder engagement strategies and consulting with a wide range of community, industry and interest groups
n
- Leading landholder engagement activities and maintaining positive stakeholder relationships
n
- Acting as a key point of contact for community and stakeholder enquiries
n
- Managing project-related issues and providing strategic advice to support positive project outcomes
n
- Acting as a single point of contact for project teams on engagement and communications matters
n
- Supporting the preparation of communication materials and stakeholder correspondence
n
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with stakeholders, communities and project teams
n

What you'll need to succeed

n

n
- We are seeking an experienced communications or stakeholder engagement professional, ideally with experience supporting infrastructure or government projects, as this will be critical to your success
n
- Demonstrated experience managing ministerial and executive correspondence,



with the ability to tailor communications and deliver customer-focused outcomes
n
- Strong understanding of media, government and regional operating environments, including experience developing media and communication responses that support organisational reputation
n
- Proven ability to apply issues and reputation management principles and provide sound strategic advice to internal and external stakeholders
n
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively to a range of audiences in a non-technical manner
n
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships
n
- Demonstrated ability to gather insights, identify opportunities for improvement and embrace innovation to drive better outcomes
n
- Adaptability and resilience, with the ability to respond effectively to changing priorities and evolving environments
n
- Knowledge of community engagement practices and the ability to provide high-level advice to regional management to achieve positive community and departmental outcomes
n
