Connect2Group is looking for a passionate individual, to join our dynamic team as a CasualDisability Support Worker.
You will be supporting a young, energetic man with a complex diagnostic and behavioural presentation. He prefers being supported by highly motivated workers who maintain his routines and encourage him to engage in preferred activities. These include being on a trampoline, ball games, swimming and walking in the park. An experienced team of allied health professionals will train and support you to implement therapies and manage complex support needs and challenging behaviours.
Experience in Positive Behaviour Support and Restrictive Practices is highly regarded, but full training is provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assisting with all activities of daily living and personal care
- Participating in a tailored communication program
- Incorporating therapy activities into the daily routine
- Supporting the client to access the community safely
- Helping maintain a calm and positive environment
- Responding to challenging behaviours patiently and consistently
- Promoting independence by helping the client work towards his personal goals and celebrating his progress
- Documenting support through case notes and incident reports
What we're looking for:
- Someone who has supported individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours, or who is willing to learn
- Minimum 1 year of experience supporting individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviours is required
- Excellent communication skills and transparent, fluent English. Experience with alternative communication methods is a plus!
- Ability to build trust and rapport over time
- Patience, empathy, and a calm manner
- A team player who enjoys being active and getting out and about
- Current Blue Card and Yellow Card/NDIS Worker Screening clearance (or willing to obtain)
- Blue Card and Yellow Card/NDIS Worker Screening clearances must be obtained before starting employment
- Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willing to obtain)
- First Aid and CPR certifications must be obtained before starting employment
- Valid Australian driver's licence.
