We’re looking for an experienced Client Account Manager / Senior Bookkeeper who enjoys taking ownership of client relationships, leading others and maintaining a high standard of bookkeeping across a varied portfolio.
This is a full-time, Monday to Friday role and is best suited to an experienced Senior Bookkeeper or Client Account Manager currently working within an Australian bookkeeping or accounting practice.
The Role
As a Client Account Manager, you will take ownership of a portfolio of clients and become their primary point of contact. You’ll be responsible for ensuring each client’s bookkeeping, payroll, BAS and reporting requirements are completed accurately and on time, while proactively communicating with clients and keeping their work moving.
You will lead and oversee the bookkeepers supporting your client portfolio, providing guidance, reviewing work and ensuring deadlines, quality standards and Accounts All Sorted processes are consistently maintained.
This is not simply a bookkeeping production role.
This role suits an experienced practice bookkeeper who enjoys variety, works confidently in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable managing multiple clients, priorities and deadlines at the same time.
You’ll be supported as you learn Accounts All Sorted’s systems, processes and ways of working, but you’ll bring a strong existing technical bookkeeping foundation and the confidence to investigate issues, make sound decisions and keep client work moving without needing continual direction.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage your own portfolio of bookkeeping clients as their primary point of contact
- Build strong, trusted and long-term relationships with clients
- Proactively communicate with clients by phone, email and online meetings
- Understand each client’s business, requirements and priorities
- Lead and oversee the bookkeepers supporting your client portfolio
- Provide guidance, mentoring and direction to bookkeeping team members
- Review bookkeeping work for accuracy,
completeness and compliance
- Ensure client work is completed accurately, efficiently and on time
- Maintain quality standards across your client portfolio
- Identify issues, follow up outstanding information and keep client work progressing
- Resolve client queries and bookkeeping issues promptly and professionally
- Complete end-to-end bookkeeping across multiple client files
- Perform bank, credit card and balance sheet reconciliations
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Process payroll, including STP, superannuation and leave management
- Prepare BAS and IAS for review and lodgement
- Prepare and review financial reports, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet reports
- Provide clients with practical bookkeeping and financial guidance
- Identify opportunities to improve client processes, systems and efficiencies
- Assist with onboarding new clients and transitioning work into the team
- Identify opportunities where clients may benefit from additional Accounts All Sorted services
- Manage workflows, deadlines and client communication through Karbon
- Work with Xero and cloud applications such as Dext, Deputy, ServiceM8, Stripe, Square and similar platforms
About You
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- 5+ years’ bookkeeping experience
- Strong experience working within an Australian bookkeeping or accounting practice
- Experience managing a portfolio of multiple clients across different industries
- Proven ability to manage a busy portfolio and competing deadlines in a fast-paced practice environment
- Experience as the primary point of contact for clients
- Experience leading, mentoring, supervising or reviewing bookkeeping team members
- Advanced knowledge of Xero, including payroll, reporting and troubleshooting
- Robust knowledge of Australian bookkeeping, BAS, GST, payroll and superannuation requirements
- Strong technical bookkeeping knowledge and the confidence to investigate and resolve issues independently
- Confidence reviewing bookkeeping work and identifying errors or areas requiring further investigation
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Confidence speaking with clients and following up outstanding information
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work
- A proactive approach and the ability to identify and resolve problems without needing continual direction
- The ability to manage competing priorities and multiple client deadlines
- Comfortable learning new systems and adapting quickly to established processes and workflows
- The ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative remote team
- Certificate IV in Bookkeeping or Accounting, or higher
- Experience with Karbon or a similar practice management system
- Australian residency with unrestricted working rights
