Your new role
Reporting directly to the Directors, this newly elevated Commercial Finance Manager position will play a critical role in supporting the business through its next phase of growth. Leading a small finance team, you will be responsible for the overall finance function while partnering closely with operational and project stakeholders to improve reporting, forecasting and commercial decision-making across the business. This is a highly visible role that will suit someone who enjoys working beyond the numbers and partnering directly with construction, project and leadership teams to drive performance.
Key responsibilities include
- Lead the finance function and a small finance team
- Own month-end reporting, management accounts and financial analysis
- Drive budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management
- Partner with Directors, construction and project teams to support commercial decision-making
- Monitor project profitability, forecasting, margins and performance
- Deliver meaningful business and project reporting to key stakeholders
- Improve financial reporting processes, systems and controls
- Manage external audit, compliance and accounting relationships
- Identify risks,
opportunities and initiatives to improve business performance
- Act as a trusted commercial adviser to the leadership team
What you'll need to succeed
- CA, CPA or equivalent qualifications are advantageous but not essential
- Previous experience as a Commercial Finance Manager, Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Senior Management Accountant
- Experience within a construction, manufacturing or project-based environment
- Strong background in project reporting, forecasting, budgeting and management reporting
- Ability to partner effectively with project, operational and senior leadership teams
- Proven experience analysing project profitability, margins, costs and business performance
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to provide practical, value-adding financial insights
- Experience leading, mentoring and developing finance team members
- Advanced Excel and financial systems capability, ideally within a project-based ERP setting
