6-Month Contract | Sydney CBD | Privacy, Risk & Regulatory Compliance An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Compliance and Privacy professional to join a leading NSW organisation on an initial 6-month contract. This key role will support the continued uplift of enterprise compliance and privacy frameworks, helping the business navigate a complex regulatory environment while strengthening governance, risk management and compliance practices.
Hays is partnering with a highly regarded organisation seeking a Compliance & Privacy Lead to provide specialist privacy advice, drive compliance initiatives, and support the effective implementation of enterprise-wide risk and compliance frameworks.
Your New Role
As the Compliance & Privacy Lead , you will be the organisation's subject matter expert for privacy compliance, partnering with stakeholders across the business to ensure legal, regulatory and policy obligations are effectively managed and embedded.
Working closely with risk, compliance and operational teams, you will lead privacy-related initiatives, support compliance assurance activities and provide trusted advice on emerging regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on privacy compliance obligations, legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the maintenance and enhancement of privacy frameworks, policies and compliance registers.
- Conduct end-to-end Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and provide practical risk mitigation recommendations.
- Support the management of privacy incidents and data breaches, including regulatory notification requirements.
- Partner with business leaders and risk teams to strengthen compliance practices and embed effective controls.
- Contribute to compliance monitoring, assurance reviews and control effectiveness assessments.
- Review risk profiles,
compliance metrics and control environments to drive continuous improvement.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and support implementation of new compliance requirements.
- Support incident investigations and provide guidance on privacy-related matters.
- Prepare reporting, insights and recommendations for senior leadership and governance committees.
What You'll Need to Succeed To be successful, you will demonstrate:
- 5+ years' experience in Compliance, Risk, Governance, Assurance or a related discipline.
- Solid expertise in privacy compliance and privacy risk management.
- Experience conducting Privacy Impact Assessments and advising on privacy obligations.
- Exposure to highly regulated environments such as insurance, government, financial services, healthcare or similar sectors.
- Strong understanding of governance, risk and compliance frameworks.
- Proven ability to interpret legislation and translate regulatory requirements into practical business outcomes.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, relationship management and influencing skills.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, Business, Finance or a related field.

- Technology and cyber/privacy risk.
- Regulatory engagement and compliance programs.
- Workforce and people-related compliance.
- Insurance industry or government regulatory framework exposure.
