About the role The Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Officer plays a central role in strengthening quality, safety, governance and system maturity across Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations (AICCHOs). As a core member of QAIHC's Integrated Quality Systems Unit, the CQI Officer works alongside Accreditation and Medicare (MBS) functions to deliver a cohesive, proactive and system-led approach to continuous quality improvement. This role is responsible for embedding CQI as a core system function that supports accreditation readiness, Medicare integrity, governance capability, workforce development and culturally safe service delivery.

The CQI Officer operates with a high degree of autonomy and professional judgement, requiring strong systems thinking, sector engagement capability and the ability to translate data, standards and evidence into practical, culturally grounded improvement approaches for Member organisations.

Key responsibilities

- Contribute to the implementation and ongoing refinement of QAIHC's Integrated Quality Systems Framework, with a specific focus on CQI components.
- Embed CQI approaches across the Seven Accreditation Pillars, supporting alignment between CQI, accreditation readiness and Medicare integrity.
- Support the development and maintenance of CQI-related systems, processes and tools used across the sector.
- Lead and coordinate the CQI Community of Practice, ensuring alignment with Accreditation and MBS Communities of Practice.
- Work directly with AICCHOs to assess CQI maturity and support staged improvement aligned to organisational context.
- Provide tailored CQI advice and coaching to support governance, clinical quality, documentation, workforce and service delivery improvement.




- Support the use of service-level and sector-level data to inform CQI priorities and improvement activities.
- Contribute to the development of CQI tools, templates and guidance within the Integrated Quality Systems Resource Library.
- Work collaboratively with Accreditation, MBS, Workforce, Public Health and Data teams to ensure integrated support for Members.

About you

- Demonstrated experience in continuous quality improvement within a health, community or human services setting.
- Strong understanding of CQI methodologies and quality improvement cycles.
- Knowledge of accreditation standards relevant to community-controlled health services
- Demonstrated ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders, including community-controlled organisations.
- Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
- High-level written and verbal communication skills.
- A strong commitment to cultural safety and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander ways of working.
- Ability and willingness to travel within Queensland as required.
- Current driver's license.
- Experience working within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community-controlled organisations (desirable).
