Details: As part of a high-quality end-of-life care system that respects dignity and supports families, the ACTGovernment is committed to ensuring voluntary assisted dying remains responsive to the needs ofCanberrans.
The ACT Government is undertaking the next stage of work in voluntary assisted dying policy by consideringwhat should happen if a person loses decision-making capacity after the final assessment stage of thevoluntary assisted dying process. This issue is complex, sensitive and raises important human rights, legaland ethical questions.
To support this work, the Health and Community Services Directorate is seeking a Senior Project Officer tojoin a small project team delivering a citizens' jury, alongside a contracted external provider. The citizens'jury will bring together everyday Canberrans, supported by engagement with clinicians, legal experts,
consumers, carers and advocacy groups.
The successful candidate will have strong organisational, stakeholder engagement and communicationskills, with the ability to coordinate activities, manage competing priorities and contribute to project deliveryunder tight timeframes. Experience in policy, project or government environments will be highly regarded.
The role involves working with sensitive and potentially confronting subject matter and requiresprofessionalism, resilience and a commitment to psychosocial safety.

Eligibility/Other requirements:

- The successful applicant will be required to undergo a National Police Check. This role supports significant face-to-face activities.
- The role requires attendance in Canberra and will involve some out of hours or weekend work.

Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately until 30 June 2028. A merit pool or merit list will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.

Where an offer of employment is for a fixed-term period, any related temporary contracts within the Territory will be issued in compliance with the requirements and applicable exceptions outlined in the Fair Work Act.
