The Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional educational leader to join our Secondary School as Deputy Head of Secondary School – Student Experience from early 2027.

This key leadership position will shape and lead the student experience across Years 7–12, cultivating a positive and aspirational culture in which students are supported to grow in character, confidence and capability.

The Deputy Head of Secondary School – Student Experience will provide strategic and operational leadership across student wellbeing, engagement, behaviour, attendance, leadership, sport, performing arts and co-curricular life. They will establish clear and consistent expectations, strengthen student voice and ensure that students experience a strong sense of connection and pride in college life.

Reporting to the Deputy Principal and Head of Secondary School, the successful applicant will directly lead and support Year Level Coordinators, Heads of House and key leaders across sport and performing arts. They will also work closely with the Deputy Head of Secondary School – Curriculum, Heads of Department, College Counsellors, Head of Individual Differences, teachers, students and families.

As a member of both the Secondary School Leadership Team and College Leadership Team, the successful applicant will be an accomplished and highly relational leader who can build the capability of others, manage complex student matters and contribute strategically to the future direction of the College.

Responsibilities include:

- Lead the strategic development and continuous improvement of student wellbeing, engagement, behaviour and attendance across Years 7–12
- Establish and uphold clear,



consistent student expectations and behavioural standards aligned with the College’s values
- Lead, mentor and develop Year Level Coordinators, Heads of House, Wellbeing Mentors and other staff involved in student life
- Monitor student attendance, conduct and wellbeing data, using insights to implement proactive interventions and improvement strategies
- Lead the Secondary student leadership program, including the ongoing development of the Student Leadership Constitution
- In conjunction with the Deputy Principal and Head of Secondary School develop College Captains, House Captains, SRC representatives and other student leaders
- Strengthen student voice, agency, responsibility, service and leadership opportunities across all year levels
- Provide strategic oversight of sport, performing arts, House programs, clubs and other co-curricular activities
- Lead the planning and delivery of significant student experiences, including camps, assemblies, performances, competitions, House events and community service initiatives
- Promote inclusive participation and celebrate student achievement across all aspects of College life
- Build strong partnerships with parents and carers to support clear communication and confidence in the care and experience of students
- Lead change initiatives that strengthen student culture and continuously improve the Secondary student experience
- Model exemplary leadership, professionalism and commitment to the College’s vision and values

Successful applicants will:

- Be a degree qualified teacher with current Victorian Institute of Teaching registration
- Demonstrate successful educational leadership experience in student wellbeing, engagement, behaviour and culture
- Have a proven ability to build a positive and aspirational student culture characterised by clear expectations and high standards




- Demonstrate the ability to lead, mentor and develop staff and middle leaders, fostering consistency, accountability and continuous improvement
- Have experience developing meaningful student leadership, voice and service opportunities
- Demonstrate the capacity to provide strategic leadership across sport, performing arts, House programs, co-curricular activities and major student experiences
- Possess highly developed communication, relationship building and conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrate sound judgement and the ability to manage complex and sensitive student matters
- Build strong, positive and respectful relationships with students, staff and families
- Be a strategic and collaborative leader who can contribute effectively to whole College planning and decision making
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to child safety and positive student outcomes
