Where you'll be working

Join the Nutrition and Dietetics team across Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals, supporting the delivery of high-quality, person-centred nutrition care to patients. You will work closely with Clinical Dietitians, Food Services staff and other health professionals to help ensure patients receive appropriate nutrition support throughout their hospital stay.

- Work across Blacktown and Mount Druitt Hospitals as part of a collaborative Nutrition and Dietetics service.
- Support patients who have been identified as being at nutritional risk.
- Build strong working relationships with Dietitians, Food Services and other healthcare professionals.
- Contribute to quality improvement, education and evidence-based nutrition practices.

What you'll be doing As a Dietitian Assistant, you will support Clinical Dietitians in providing safe and effective nutrition care to hospital patients. You will combine patient interaction, nutrition screening, menu support and clinical administration to help deliver a high-quality dietetic service.

- Conduct nutrition risk screening, triage outcomes and refer patients to Clinical Dietitians as required.
- Support identified patients with menu selection, appropriate food choices and simple nutrition education under Dietitian supervision.
- Monitor menu selections and mealtime consumption, implement delegated nutrition interventions and contribute to care plan monitoring.
- Maintain accurate patient, departmental and statistical records in accordance with NSW Health and WSLHD requirements.
- Contribute to professional development, patient education, quality improvement, research and service evaluation activities.

Essential Criteria

- Qualification: Nutrition Qualification including: Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Nutrition and Dietetics) or Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition Stream), or relevant University nutrition qualification.

Selection Criteria





- Demonstrated understanding and application of provision of clinical support to the Clinical Dietitian.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of therapeutic diets.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of CBORD Diet Office program and its role in hospital nutrition provision.
- Demonstrated good written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team.
- Ability to work a rotating roster including weekends and public holidays.
