Job Description
Student Ambassadors are carefully selected representatives of Macquarie University. As the face of the University for prospective students, ambassadors are chosen for their communication skills, professionalism, leadership potential and engagement with university life.
We're looking for current Macquarie University students who make the most of their university experience and are excited to share it with others. Whether you've been involved in student clubs or societies, sport, mentoring, leadership programs, volunteering, PACE, internships, exchange or other university initiatives, we'd love to hear how you've contributed to campus life.
As a Student Ambassador you'll gain more than casual employment. Join a highly regarded team of student leaders who represent Macquarie, develop career-defining skills and help future students discover what's possible.
Depending on your interests and experience, you may have opportunities to feature in university marketing campaigns, videos, publications, and social media content. The main activities you would be performing as a student ambassador include:
- Sharing your Macquarie story through presentations, webinars and conversations with future students, parents and teachers
- Helping future students navigate their options and make confident decisions about university study
- Contributing to social media content and digital campaigns that inspire future students to see themselves at Macquarie
- Capturing prospective student details (leads) at student recruitment events and activities.
- Representing Macquarie University at careers markets, expos and other major events including those hosted by faculties or other Macquarie departments
- Conducting tours of the Macquarie University campus
- Providing event support including set up, registration and other activities for in-person and online recruitment activities
- Conducting outbound telephone calling to prospective students or other stakeholders
- Supporting the Future Students team with administrative & office tasks as required
- Handling of boxes of approximately 10kg on a regular basis
- Driving University vehicles in a safe manner to various student recruitment events (on and off campus).

About the Candidate
- Are currently enrolled at Macquarie University with ideally at least two years of study remaining.
- Demonstrate strong organisational and time management skills.
- Are confident communicators who can connect with a wide range of audiences.
- Enjoy helping others and providing accurate, helpful information.
- Act with professionalism, integrity and accountability when representing Macquarie University.
- Can work independently and contribute positively within a team environment.
- Are available to work across weekdays, evenings and weekends as required, including major university events.
- Hold a current Australian driver's licence (P1, P2 or Full) and are comfortable travelling to events across metropolitan and regional locations.
Highly regarded
While not essential, we would love to hear about your experience in any of the following areas:
- Customer service, hospitality, retail, tutoring, mentoring or other people-focused roles.
- Presenting, facilitating or public speaking.
- Developing content for social media or digital platforms.
- Leadership, volunteering or community involvement.
- Participation in university life through student groups, sport, PACE, exchange, mentoring programs, volunteering, leadership initiatives or other extracurricular activities.
- Experience using Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Work Environment

You must be available for Open Day on Saturday 14 August, 2027 and training days throughout 2026 and 2027.
