Expressions of interest are invited from ongoing and temporary employees within the NSW Public Sector who wish to be considered for this temporary role for a period up to 30 April 2027, with the potential to further extend.
About the group The Economic, Housing and Infrastructure Policy Group provides strategic policy advice to the Premier and Cabinet and works with agencies to progress the Government’s priorities. Its responsibilities span transport, treasury, infrastructure, planning, housing, homelessness, building regulation, local government, creative industries, liquor and gaming, fair trading, work health and safety, workers compensation and related regulatory matters.
The Group comprises the Economic Policy Branch and the Planning and Housing Branch. Together, they provide whole-of-government advice on major economic, fiscal, housing and infrastructure issues, coordinate work across agencies and lead priority projects where issues cut across portfolios or require central oversight.
About the role The Executive Officer works directly with the Deputy Secretary, Economic, Housing and Infrastructure Policy. You will provide clear advice on the Group’s priorities, help direct attention to the issues that matter and support timely decisions.
You will maintain a explicit view of priorities, risks and emerging issues; assess advice and identify gaps or consequences; determine what needs attention or escalation; and work with senior staff and agencies to resolve issues. The role requires sound judgement, discretion and an understanding of government.
You will often need to advise with incomplete information, manage competing priorities and ensure decisions are implemented.

About you
You take responsibility, know when to escalate and handle sensitive information with integrity and impartiality. You also have:
- the ability to anticipate issues and their wider consequences, provide high-quality advice to senior executives on complex, sensitive and emerging matters, and exercise sound judgement about what is important, urgent or sensitive, including when circumstances are changing quickly.
- supported senior leaders by managing competing priorities, coordinating briefings, supporting governance processes and contributing to organisational planning.
led complex projects, coordinate several workstreams and deliver results within tight timeframes.
- the ability to write clearly and concisely, with experience preparing high-quality briefs, submissions, reports and correspondence for executive and Ministerial audiences.
- experience building trusted relationships and working effectively with senior executives, Ministerial offices and stakeholders across government to resolve issues and achieve outcomes.
