We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled Excavator Operator to join our team in a hands-on mentoring role.
This position is ideal for an operator with extensive civil and construction experience, particularly with excavators, who takes pride in quality workmanship, efficiency and safety, and enjoys helping develop less experienced operators and apprentices.
This is not a supervisory role. The focus is on sharing experience, mentoring others, improving work quality and efficiency, and supporting our safety procedures and culture.

- Extensive experience operating excavators in civil/construction environments.
- Strong understanding of excavation, trenching, earthworks, services and general civil works.
- Excellent machine control, accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong safety awareness and hazard identification skills.
- Ability and willingness to mentor and coach less experienced operators and apprentices.
- Valuable communication skills and a positive attitude.
- Ability to lead by example while remaining hands-on.

Essential Skills & Knowledge
- Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations (RII30820 or equivalent).
- Verified competency/VOC for relevant plant and machinery.
- Demonstrated competency and extensive experience operating excavators.
- Knowledge of Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), JSA/JHA, risk assessments and site safety procedures.
- Understanding of underground services, exclusion zones and working around people and other plant.
- Knowledge of excavation and trenching safety requirements.
- Ability to conduct and understand pre-start inspections and plant hazard checks.
- Understanding of machine limitations, ground conditions and safe excavation practices.
- Ability to identify hazards, prevent incidents and stop work when conditions are unsafe.
