About the role A substantial dryland cropping enterprise in North West NSW, operating to a high professional standard with modern equipment on prime land, requires a current team member to focus on farm mechanical repairs and maintenance, as well as assisting with machinery operation and livestock handling.
Approximately 60–70% of the role will be mechanical work, with the remaining 30–40% dedicated to other farm responsibilities.
Responsibilities
We are seeking a competent, hands-on person who takes responsibility and can work independently as well as part of a team. The farming enterprise includes cropping, livestock, hay production and pasture.
Reporting to the Farm Manager, the role will involve:
- Mechanical repairs and maintenance
- Maintaining farm machinery and equipment
- Infrastructure installation and maintenance
- Machinery operation
- Livestock handling and general farm duties
Experience and Education
- Extensive experience with farm machinery
- Strong mechanical ability essential, including experience with John Deere tractors, CLAAS headers, loaders, station vehicles, BOSS and Morris planters and prime movers
- Driver’s licence essential; heavy vehicle licence beneficial
- Experience with livestock handling preferred
- Sound understanding of farming practices
- ChemCert beneficial
- Own tools preferred; however, a farm workshop with most equipment and tools is provided
