About the role
As Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day finance engine of the business, including month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, audit readiness, WIP, cost-to-complete, revenue recognition, taxation and statutory compliance. You will also provide meaningful commercial analysis across projects and the broader business, identifying trends, risks, opportunities and margin movements and providing management with clear, practical financial insight.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the day-to-day Finance function and finance team
- Own monthly and annual financial close and reporting
- Manage WIP, cost-to-complete and revenue recognition
- Oversee AP, AR, payroll and cash-flow forecasting
- Manage taxation, statutory compliance and external audit requirements
- Coordinate annual budgets and periodic forecasts
- Analyse project profitability, margins and financial performance
- Prepare management reporting and contribute to Board reporting
- Partner with Project Managers and Operations to challenge forecasts and improve commercial outcomes
- Drive improvements across financial systems, controls, processes and reporting
About you
- CA, CPA, ACA or equivalent qualified accounting qualification
- Strong financial accounting and commercial finance experience
- Demonstrated team leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of AASB and financial reporting requirements
- Experience with month-end close and external audit
- Excellent budgeting, forecasting and variance-analysis capability
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with Power BI, financial modelling or data analytics highly regarded
- Project accounting, WIP, cost-to-complete and revenue recognition experience highly regarded
- Experience within construction, manufacturing, engineering or another project-based environment will be particularly valuable
