Job Summary

MAVAN is hiring a Financial Accountant to lead our Australian accounting operations. You will be the qualified CA or CPA who ensures our financial reporting is accurate, compliant, and ready for group consolidation as our business grows.

A Typical Day

Working as the primary deputy to the Finance Lead, you will oversee and review the daily accounting work done by external vendors and internal team members. Currently, an outsourced team handles month-end close, a specialist manages the crypto ledger, and an internal finance officer handles accounts payable, payroll, and invoicing. Your job is to connect our day-to-day operations with the numbers, ensuring all financial data reflects actual business activity.

Over time, you will bring more of the accounting and crypto processes in-house.

Key Responsibilities

- Review and Validate Numbers : Oversee balance sheet reconciliations, month-end closes, and financial reports produced by external teams before they are submitted to our parent company.
- Manage Revenue Accounting :



Direct revenue recognition and reconciliations for existing revenue streams and new clients, while maintaining the chart of accounts.
- Ensure Australian Tax Compliance : Manage BAS, FBT, payroll tax, and tax return preparation alongside our external tax advisers, while overseeing trust and portfolio trial balances.
- Financial Analysis and Reporting : Prepare management accounts, variance reports (budget vs. actuals), and financial models to support executive decision-making.
- Process Improvement : Automate workflows, reduce manual data entry, and streamline month-end close procedures as the company scales.
- Insource Operations : Transition bookkeeping and crypto accounting tasks from external providers back into our internal team over time.

Key Requirements

- CA ANZ or CPA qualification.
- 3 to 8 years of total experience across public practice and commercial industry roles.
- Proven experience taking full ownership of the complete month-end close process.
- Demonstrated ability to review, challenge, and manage the output of outsourced accounting providers.
- Strong financial modeling and quantitative analysis skills.
- Experience with crypto or digital asset accounting, or a strong willingness to learn it quickly.




- Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Haves

- Experience with NetSuite ERP.
- Hands-on experience in crypto or digital asset accounting.
- Exposure to IFRS and US GAAP standards.
- Experience designing process and data flows.
- Familiarity with modern AI productivity tools.

Compensation and Benefits

- Indicative Base Salary Range: A$130,000–170,000 + Super
- Actual compensation will depend on location, experience, and qualifications.
