About the role

REA Fishing Charters is seeking an experienced Fishing Guide to join our team on a contract basis in Weipa, QLD 4874. This is a fantastic prospect to share your passion for fishing and the stunning natural environment with guests from around the world. As a Fishing Guide, you will be the face of our company, leading memorable fishing expeditions and ensuring every client experiences the best that our waters have to offer.

This role is essential to delivering exceptional customer experiences and maintaining REA's reputation as a premier fishing tourism operator in Far North Queensland.

Key responsibilities

- Lead guided fishing trips for clients of varying skill levels, ensuring safety and enjoyment throughout each expedition
- Provide expert knowledge about local fishing techniques, species identification, and seasonal fishing patterns
- Prepare and maintain fishing equipment, vessels, and safety gear to the highest standards
- Navigate local waters with proficiency, identifying prime fishing locations and adapting to changing conditions
- Educate guests about sustainable fishing practices and local environmental conservation efforts
- Offer personalised instruction and coaching to help clients improve their fishing skills
- Manage guest comfort, dietary requirements, and any special requests during trips
- Maintain accurate records of catches, guest feedback, and daily expedition details
- Comply with all relevant fishing regulations, licensing requirements, and safety protocols
- Build robust relationships with clients to encourage repeat bookings and positive reviews

What we're looking for

- Proven experience working as a fishing guide or in a similar
- Comprehensive knowledge of fishing, fish species,



and seasonal variations in Weipa and surrounding waters
- Advanced fishing skills across multiple techniques, including lure, fly and reef fishing
- Current Coxswain NC1 & boat operation licence or willingness to obtain one
- Strong knowledge of water safety procedures, emergency response protocols, and first aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with diverse international and domestic guests
- Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging marine environments for extended periods
- Genuine passion for fishing, wildlife, and the natural environment
- Flexibility to work variable hours, including weekends, early mornings, and extended trips
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic
- Preferred: experience with photography, videography, or environmental interpretation to enhance guest experiences
